Pricewaterhouse Coopers Executive – Case Study

A Senior Executive at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC), had applied for Partnership within the firm, however, his first attempt was unsuccessful. As part of PWC’s Learning and Development programme Constance Lamb was asked to coach the Executive in developing more “gravitas” in his vocal and delivery skills, so that he could apply again for Partnership. He was classified as a “high-flyer” and PWC were keen to retain him.

Actions Taken

Constance Lamb, Public Speaking Consultant met with the Senior Executive; gave detailed Feedback & Analysis on his Presentation to the Board and identified key specific developmental areas.

  • Enriching full range of the voice to convey more “gravitas”
  • Modulation to add interest to vocal delivery
  • Emphasis & Stressing to ensure key message conveyed.
  • Clarity of Message
  • Impactful & Effective Visual Slides e.g. Less is more
  • How to speak with Power & Authority

“The Compelling Communicator” 2 month program  was tailored to his needs.

Outcomes achieved

During the program the PWC Senior Executive had to travel to Indonesia and speak at Board Level to Senior Government Officials and businessmen to initiate a new Telecommunications system for the Country. It required hours of careful negotiations. He reported that the vocal & delivery skills helped to sustain his energy levels and speak with more “gravitas”. PWC won the contract.

The Result: The Senior Executive re-applied for Partnership & was successful.
